Courses in the Summer English Language Studies program are appropriate for intermediate to advanced UC Berkeley and visiting students who want to enhance their English language skills, improve job performance, or undertake university work.  We offer both online and on-campus courses during six-week and/or three week-sessions starting in July and running through mid-August.

On-Campus Courses:

The Berkeley campus and San Francisco Bay Area community offer a stimulating environment for students interested in improving their English. Known for its academic excellence, creativity, and innovative thinking, Berkeley is a perfect choice for summer study. Different course topics and related fieldwork projects give you the chance to use your English language skills in the classroom and community. 

Online Courses:

Can't make it to campus this summer?  Join us on Zoom to work with UC Berkeley instructors, gain UC Berkeley credit, and get a UC Berkeley transcript – from anywhere in the world!
