Christine (Christy) Beckman has an Ed.D in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, an MA in Rhetoric and Communication from UC Davis, a BS in Communication from Northern Arizona University, and a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from UC Berkeley. Christy has been an instructor of Human Communication in Maebashi (Gunma prefecture) Japan, California, and Arizona. Christy teaches Business and Social Entrepreneurship and Storytelling. Recently she finished a 9 month grant with MIT OpenCourseWare and Maricopa Community Colleges (Arizona). She has been a full-time faculty member of Mesa Community College in Arizona since 2000, serving the last eight years as Evening Chair in the Communication Department. Christy has been teaching Professional Communication online for the Master of Legal Studies Program at Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law since 2018. Her area of interest is community service projects for online students hoping that students from across the globe can find areas of need in local communities, and share their success stories with their online classmates in communication courses. Both her doctorate and TESL certificate were completed with the GI Bill. Christy served as an Officer in the US Naval Reserves in Yokosuka, Japan.
