CWP builds community around writing on campus and beyond by hosting events for students and teachers, interviewing campus writers, maintaining a resource library, and publishing an online forum for the teaching of writing across campus.

We are proud of our campus writing community, and we work to showcase that community’s talents.

Saffy Sumra, a student in Lecturer Margi Wald's Fall 2020 College Writing R4B course, has won the Charlene Conrad Liebau Library Prize for Undergraduate Research for her research: "Narrative Medicine as an Outlet of Expression for Healthcare Workers Experiencing Moral Injury".

Kim Freeman will be presenting at the Conference on College Composition and Communication in April 2021 on her CW R4B class. Her talk is entitled "The Never-Ending Story: Teaching Climate Change, Research, and Interdisciplinary Narrative."

Margi Wald has received TESOL International Association's 2021 Virginia French Allen Award in recognition of her scholarship and service to TESOL and its state affiliate CATESOL.

In late January, CWP was honored to welcome writing instructors from UC campuses and beyond to this year's virtual UC Writing Conference. It was an enriching conference, from Flower Darby's inspiring and informative keynote to the varied presentation topics.
