  Teaching Writing Across Berkeley

A Note to Readers

In Writing Across Berkeley, we hope to present and inspire discussion, both practical and theoretical, on the varied approaches to teaching writing across campus. This inaugural issue presents the results of a U.C. Berkeley faculty survey on upper division student writing, a discussion of the value of assigning multiple drafts, a list of grammar rules that never existed (even though some of us might think so), and four professors' views on how to meet the challenge of writing in their disciplines. Please let us know what you think.

Writing Across Berkeley is part of a campuswide conversation about writing: we'd love to hear from our readers. If you want to respond to one of the articles, have ideas for future pieces, would like to write for WAB, or have some language peeves to air, please email Gail Offen-Brown at gob@berkeley.edu.
