Student Learning Center

The Student Learning Center offers drop in and by-appointment tutoring in writing for all undergraduate courses. Special services are offered for non-native speakers of English. If you have a student who needs writing help that you cannot provide, this is the place to start.

DSP staff recommend academic accommodations so that students have a chance to learn and to demonstrate what they have learned in classes. The program provides many support services for students, and it publishes a helpful booklet for faculty, Teaching Students with Disabilities.

Teaching Library

Teaching Library staff will arrange for group tours, drop-in classes, and course-integrated introductions to the library, covering conducting research and seeking information in the library, for individual classes and programs.

CWP offers a range of writing courses, from those that fulfill the R&C requirement to those in advanced composition. CWP trains GSIs across campus to teach writing, and houses a library of writing resources.

Encouraging Student Writing

This booklet is geared specifically for UCB instructors who assign writing in their courses, but who do not teach writing classes. It provides information on how to help students improve their writing and contains a series of "Tip Sheets" on writing for students, which may be duplicated and distributed.
