We as dean of Undergraduate Education and director of the College Writing Programs are pleased and proud to be able to help introduce this first volume of a new periodical, Writing Across Berkeley.

Writing Across Berkeley originates in the College Writing Programs, but it is being offered to the entire campus in the hope and expectation that it will call to the campus' attention our common ground, the enterprise of writing.

Writing Across Berkeley will provide information about and resources for the teaching of writing, but its editors hope to involve you all in much more than that.
