Our courses, appropriate for both English as a Second Language speakers (ESL) and native English speakers, can be taken on campus or online.

We offer a variety of activities on and off campus that allow you to interact with students from across the program and with instructors.
Registration Information
After planning their schedules, students work directly with the UC Berkeley Summer Sessions Office to register and pay for courses.
Placement Exam
Students enrolled in ESL 8: English as a Second Language in Session D or Session E are required to take an online placement exam before classes begin. Other ESL courses do not require any placement exam before classes start.

Visiting Students
